Back in Brac!

Cayman Brac is one of three Cayman Islands and a Sister Island to Grand Cayman and smaller, nearby neighbor, Little Cayman. The island is roughly 14 square miles—approximately 12 miles long and 1.2 miles wide. Named for its breathtaking bluff, Cayman Brac is off the beaten track but remains charming, allowing thrill-seekers and nature-lovers to get up close and personal with rare flora and fauna. The tiny towns have names like West End, Watering Place, Cotton Tree Bay, Creek and Spot Bay. Meanwhile, the laidback accommodations make it the ideal place to unwind after another day packed with adventures.  Limestone caves and sinkholes contrast waters containing awe inspiring dives along seawalls and even a sunken ship.

Cayman Brac Beach Resort

Cayman Brac Beach Resort is located in West End and completed a major renovation in December 2015. Rooms are all beach/pool view with one king or two double beds.  The Cayman Brac Beach Resort has something for every diver - comfortable accommodations, chef-prepared meals, and just steps from Reef Divers with daily morning and afternoon boat dives.

The Diving!

The reefs and dive sites around the Brac are very healthy with abundant marine life due to the island’s small population and relatively small number of diving visitors each year.  Its sites include sheer walls, nice swim-throughs, beautiful reefs, and two wrecks to explore – all taking place in seas with minimal currents and unlimited visibility.  Our package includes morning and afternoon dives, including a trip to nearby Little Cayman to dive its iconic Bloody Bay Wall – weather permitting.

Reef Divers takes the work out of your diving, handling the heavy lifting and care of your boat dive gear—from your first dive through your last dive (unless you’d prefer to do it yourself). They rinse, dry, and store your BCD and regulator daily, so they’re set up and ready for your next day’s diving. The only finger you’ll have to lift is the one to point out your gear as you relax in the boat, ready to go diving.

Great Diving Experience We arrived with a large group in June 2019 and everything was ready for us with no confusion. The rooms were clean with ample space. We were there for a week eating in the main dining room. The food was good with a good variety to choose from. We did 3 dives a day. Our boat crew was a lot of fun adding to the overall experience. I would definitely recommend trying the Cayman Brac Beach Resort..

A Delightful Resort Between Dives Our group just returned from a week’s stay in Cayman Brac. There were 4 of us in the group, 3 divers and 1 non-diver. In short, it was a wonderful week, one we’d definitely like to repeat. First of all, the accommodations at the Cayman Brac Beach Resort were very nice; the hotel has clearly been kept up-to-date and barely shows its age. The rooms were fairly basic but updated, but were comfortable and cheery for our stay. The beds were very nice, perfect for sound sleep, which, of course, was very easy after a day of diving. The food, mostly served buffet-style, was very good and offered plenty of variety. One of us is on a plant-based diet and the food staff went out of their way to make sure her dietary desires were met. The dining room and kitchen staff were all very friendly and appeared genuinely happy to see us. The pool bar was a great place to hang out; the service staff were very personable and friendly, making it easy to become acquainted. We took full advantage of the Manager’s Welcome Party, Trivia Night (thanks, Ragnar) and especially the Barbecue Night, all offered next to the pool and bar. The diving itself was spectacular. In 18 dives (including 2 night dives) we only dived a single site twice. Every dive site seemed to offer something new and different than the previous ones. And it truly was valet diving, without ever having to lift the weight of a tank. We were assigned to a single dive boat, the Little Sister, which we dived from every dive (except one night dive) so we didn’t need to learn the subtle differences among the 3 Newton dive boats. The Reef Divers dive team couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful, and we had essentially the same team for the entire week, give or take. Tom, Frankie and Ragnar were with us most of the time, but we also had some time with CC. At the end of the week, we felt we were leaving as friends rather as simply dive customers. There were only 2 regrets: one, that the divers didn’t really get the chance to enjoy sitting by the pool or on the beach for very long since we always seemed to be in the diving process. (The non-diver enjoyed both locales very much.) And second, that we had to leave at all. Finally, this was our first extended series of dives using Nitrox exclusively. I would highly recommend getting Nitrox-qualified before coming here to dive. The flexibility Nitrox offered was very noteworthy.

Another Amazing Dive Trip As always Clearly Cayman didn’t disappoint. This was my second trip to Cayman Brac Beach Resort. I must admit that I am truly in love with the Cayman Islands. The diving was wonderful, staff were awesome and the food delicious. Must disclose that I recently became gluten intolerant and they took care of my dietary needs with no problem at all. I’ll be Brac soon!
