Frequently Asked Questions

How do swim lessons work?

What do I need to bring to swim lessons?
For younger children, if they need a swim diaper, have them wear one to swim lessons, and bring an extra just in case. Every person for swim lessons will need a towel. Swim goggles and ear plugs are acceptable, but not required.

Can I watch my child during swim lessons?
The first day of lessons, the instructor will see how well the child listens during the 30 minutes. If it is necessary for the parent(s)/ guardian to leave the pool area, the instructor will let you know. We sometimes see that the child pays attention better when the parent/ guardian is not there. We do have a window to the pool area for you to watch.

How do I schedule the lessons?
Before lessons are scheduled, payment is required. The lesson dates and times are based on your schedule and the instructor's schedule. Scheduling is easier in person or over the phone so we can coordinate the dates and times with you.

What happens if I need to cancel?
If you need to cancel a lesson for any reason, we need at least 24 hours advance notice. If we do not have notice from the parent/ guardian, that lesson is counted in part of the 8 lessons. If notice is given at least 24 hours in advance, we will reschedule that lesson for another day or time.

Are the lessons private?
Each lesson is private. The child will be one on one with an instructor. There will be other lessons going on during their time, but they have one instructor's full attention for each 30 minutes.

Will they have the same instructor?
We try to keep the same instructor for all 8 lessons. If there is a conflict with that instructor for a lesson, and you do not want to change days or times, they can possibly be with another instructor. All instructors have the same training, but younger children may not like switching different people.

Snorkel Camp FAQ

What will my children need for snorkel camp?
We supply all necessary equipment (mask, fins, snorkel, & flotation device). But if kids own their own equipment, they are welcome to use it.
Kids will need to bring a swimsuit, towel, try clothing, and a lunch.

Is there an age limit for snorkel camp?
Snorkel camp is for children 5 years old to 10 years old.

Does my child need to know how to swim?
Children do not need to be Olympic swimmers but should know how to swim on a beginners level. If you are concerned with your child's swim level, we recommend swim lessons before snorkel camp begins.

How do I register for snorkel camp?
You can register online, over the phone by calling Diver's Destination, or by visiting the store.

What is the cost of snorkel camp
Snorkel camp costs $250 per camper.
